Judgment Based on Legislation Introduced by Firm While Decision Pending The Oregon State Court of Appeals issued two opinions in Jones v. Douglas County (Case Nos. A-148612 and A148618) ending an 18-month dispute involving construction of a Douglas County home that had been aggressively opposed by neighbors.

The Western Returned Scholars Association honored Stan Barer with the Lifetime Achievement Award in a ceremony on Dec. 4 in the People’s Republic of China. A member of Garvey Schubert Barer’s advisory committee and of counsel, Barer is also the chairman emeritus of Saltchuk Resources, Inc.

Dobay’s practice includes federal and state tax controversy and tax planning. She has represented clients in a wide variety of federal income tax and state and local tax matters and has significant experience with issues related to energy tax credits.

Garvey Schubert Barer has been selected for the 2011 Appleseed Award for Pro Bono Service by Washington Appleseed. Firm volunteers, led by firm Owner and Washington Appleseed board of directors member Ronald J. Knox, have contributed more than 200 hours to the organization, helping in matters such as assessing and reporting on the impact of payday loans and advocating for the homeless.
