The South Carolina Supreme Court has certified Jamie Hedgepath as a Specialist in Employment and Labor Law. Hedgepath, a Member (Partner) in the firm’s Greenville office, is the eighth Nexsen Pruet attorney to earn the designation.

Nexsen Pruet attorney April Lucas has been unanimously elected as the President of the Midlands International Trade Association (MITA). Lucas is co-chair of the firm’s Economic Development Group and her term began on January 1st.

Nexsen Pruet is pleased to announce that eight of its attorneys have been named to Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite” list for 2012. Four attorneys are listed in the area of Construction Law. Eric Biesecker, Harper Heckman and David Senter practice in Greensboro and John Mabe in Raleigh. Ben Kahn is listed in Bankruptcy Law category and practices in Greensboro.

The January 2012 edition of Greenville Business magazine names Nexsen Pruet attorney Billy Wilkins to its list of "50 Most Influential" people in Greenville. Wilkins, who is former Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, has been named to the list each year since returning to private practice in the Upstate.

Nexsen Pruet attorney John Cole has been appointed as Director of Governmental Affairs for the North Carolina State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management. The one-year term, which began on January 1st, is Cole’s second.

Nexsen Pruet announced today that three have been elected Members (Partners) of the firm. Andrea Easler, Tom Johnson and Brian Pearce practice with the firm’s Real Estate Group.

Attorneys Harry Lightsey and Sally Rogers have joined Nexsen Pruet’s Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Group. They will work closely with Bob Coble in the firm’s Columbia offices on Main Street, which is located in the block across the street from the South Carolina Capitol.

Nexsen Pruet attorney Jay Hennig has been elected to serve as President of The Indian Waters Council, Boy Scouts of America. “The diverse and dynamic programs of the Boy Scouts of America are uniquely suited to meet the changing needs of today’s children and families,” said Hennig, a 1989 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Nexsen Pruet is the only law firm listed for both North and South Carolina in the newly published "2nd Annual Trade Allies Directory." The directory is compiled by Southern Business & Development magazine and lists "The South's Best Economic Development Law Firms."

Nexsen Pruet is pleased to announce that Suzi Grigg has been awarded the "William E.S. Robinson – Public Service Award” by the SC Bankruptcy Law Association. It is the highest annual award given by the Association for the “Meritorious Advancement of the Practice of Bankruptcy Law”.
