Winstead PC announced the expansion of its real estate practice with the addition of two real estate development, entitlement-focused shareholders, one development planner, one development project manager, and their support team. The group will be led by Stephen (Steve) O. Drenner and work in Winstead's Real Estate Development & Investments Practice Group in Austin and San Antonio.

Winstead PC announced that Shareholder Kevin A. Sullivan officially began his term as the firm's new CEO and chairman, on Jan. 1, 2011. Sullivan formerly served as chair of Winstead’s Real Estate Structured Finance practice group and the firm’s lateral hiring partner.

Winstead PC is pleased to announce the election of five new shareholders and two members of the firm's executive committee, effective Jan. 1, 2011. Winstead's new shareholders are:

Houston Shareholder Mark Guthrie was elected as the new chair of the Texas Association of Workforce Boards (TAWB) during the board meeting held in Dallas on Nov. 17, 2010. Guthrie has served on the board since 2001 when he began as the Policy Committee Chair.

Austin Labor and Employment Shareholder Peyton Smith has been named Winstead PC's new firm-wide lateral hiring shareholder. In this role, Smith will continue to build on the aggressive lateral recruiting efforts the firm has implemented, previously led by Dallas Shareholder Kevin Sullivan, resulting in the successful hiring of over 38 attorneys in the past 12 months alone.

Winstead PC attorneys from The Woodlands Office hosted their second annual community outreach event, successfully raising over $40,000 to benefit the Montgomery County Women's Center (MCWC). The event, "Evening at the Fazio," was held at Carlton Woods - The Fazio Clubhouse.

Chairman Emeritus and Dallas Shareholder W. Mike Baggett was named the 2010 recipient of the Morris Harrell Professionalism Award.

Winstead PC has hired Bart Biggers as a shareholder in the Corporate, Securities/Mergers and Acquisitions practice group. Biggers brings over nine years of corporate law experience with a focus on aviation and airline industry transactions. He worked previously as an attorney at Haynes & Boone, LLP.
