Riker Danzig Elects New Counsel

- Morristown, New Jersey-based law firm Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP is pleased to announce that associates Maha Munayyer Kabbash, Scott G. Collins and Anthony J. Borrelli have been elected counsel with the firm.

Maha Munayyer Kabbash concentrates her practice in the area of products liability and toxic torts, and has broad experience in several areas of commercial litigation. In recent years, she has been a key player in the firm's pharmaceutical drug, medical device, and tobacco litigation practice, and has represented major companies in both individual and class action lawsuits. For several years, Ms. Kabbash handled numerous consumer lawsuits in New Jersey on behalf of a leading computer manufacturer, achieving favorable settlements, dismissals and trial victories. Most recently, she played a central role in a five month trial of a groundwater contamination case brought under CERCLA, in which Riker's client prevailed at trial. Through Ms. Kabbash's wide-ranging experience, she has developed expertise in federal and State court practice, at both the trial and appellate levels. Ms. Kabbash actively volunteers with local and national civil rights organizations. Law and Politics magazine named her a Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Ms. Kabbash received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, cum laude, in 1994, and her law degree from American University, Washington College of Law, magna cum laude, in 1998.

Scott G. Collins’ practice focuses primarily on land development regulation, transportation and real property tax, and eminent domain litigation. He represents property owners and developers in obtaining municipal, county and State land use and transportation approvals. Mr. Collins has litigated land use approvals on behalf of both property owners and government entities. He also has extensive experience in real property tax litigation, representing both taxpayers and taxing authorities in appeals to County Boards of Taxation and the Tax Court of New Jersey. Mr. Collins also represents both property owners and condemning authorities in eminent domain proceedings. Law and Politics magazine recognized him as a Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2009 and 2010. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1996, and received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1999.

Anthony J. Borrelli has handled a variety of litigation matters, most recently focusing on the securities industry. He has tried a number of cases to conclusion and obtained favorable awards in securities arbitrations involving the prosecution and defense of claims unique to the securities industry, as well as the defense of claims for investment banking fees, constructive discharge, defamation, bribery and fraud. Most recently, Mr. Borrelli successfully pursued an appeal that upheld a party's ability to seek appellate review of a court order vacating an arbitration award. In a published decision, the Utah Court of Appeals decided a matter of first impression in the state (which only a handful of other courts have considered) and agreed with the minority position that Mr. Borrelli was advocating on behalf of the firm's client. Previously, Mr. Borrelli obtained a "no cause" verdict after a six-day jury trial in which the plaintiff claimed personal injuries, property damage and economic loss due to mold exposure. Law and Politics Magazine named Mr. Borrelli a Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2009 and again in 2010. He graduated Boston College in 1997 and received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2000.
