Three Luce Forward Attorneys Named to Southern California Super Lawyers’ ‘Rising Stars’

- LOS ANGELES (June 22, 2010) – Southern California Super Lawyers has selected three attorneys from Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, a prominent California law firm with a national reputation, for inclusion in its 2010 “Rising Stars” list: partner Suzanne Badawi and associates Michelle Sugihara and Ryan Stottlemyer. Badawi and Sugihara work out of the firm’s Los Angeles office while Stottlemyer works out of the firm’s Orange County office.

To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger, or in practice for ten years or less. In addition to a general survey, an attorney-led research team reviews the credentials of potential candidates and assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are named to the Rising Stars list.

Badawi, who practices Business, Insurance and Real Estate Litigation, manages simple and complex lawsuits in state and federal courts. She has represented businesses in lawsuits involving breach of contract, products liability, false advertising, and fraud; she has represented owners, developers, and title insurance companies in quiet title, easement, commercial lease disputes, unlawful detainer, and lien foreclosure lawsuits; she has also defended many insurance bad faith and coverage cases involving homeowners, auto, and business liability policies.

Sugihara is a member of the firm’s Business and Intellectual Property Litigation group. She has expertise in business and real estate litigation, including easement disputes, construction defect, mechanics’ liens, eminent domain, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, insurance bad faith and other tort actions.

Stottlemyer is also in the firm’s Business and Intellectual Property Litigation group. He specializes in real estate and commercial business litigation, including contract and specific performance actions, guarantor litigation, lender liability issues, and creditors’ rights and debtor protection matters. He advises real estate owners, investors, developers, lenders, and other real estate professionals with all facets of the rights and remedies of their business disputes.
