For Second Year in a Row, Carr Maloney Attorney Jan Simonsen Named to Best Lawyers in America

WASHINGTON (October 28, 2010) - Jan Simonsen, of the mid-Atlantic law firm Carr Maloney, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2011. This is the second year in a row that Simonsen has been named to the highly regarded list.

Simonsen, an equity member, has been with Carr Maloney for 21 years. Selected in the personal injury litigation category, Simonsen litigates matters involving complex liability claims, product and professional liability, retail, mass tort and commercial litigation. Simonsen represents several large retailers as well as other large business entities including homebuilders and manufacturers. She has been lead counsel in numerous jury and non-jury trials, as well as in arbitrations. Many of these have resulted in reported appellate decisions, with several setting important legal precedents.

Simonsen received her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School. She has an AV (highest) rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and serves as a certified court mediator in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Simonsen is involved in the DC Defense Lawyers Association, serving as president from 2001 – 2002, she is a member of Defense Research Institute, and has presented on numerous topics for The National Retail Federation, The National Council of Chain Restaurants, the Bar Association for the District of Columbia and the Virginia State Bar.
