WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (June 22, 2011) - Galit Kierkut, partner in the Litigation Department and member of the Employment Law Practice Group at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP’s Woodbridge, NJ offices, is a frequent speaker on social media issues as they impact employers. Her recent speaking engagements include:

• Seminar Presenter, “Electronic Monitoring and Employee Privacy Issues” at the 2011 Business Law Symposium presented in cooperation with the NJ State Bar Association Business Law Section. The Symposium was held on April 8, 2011 at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel.

• Seminar Panelist, “Social Media Risks and Policies for Law Firms,” at the New Jersey State Bar Association Annual Meeting on May 19th in Atlantic City.

• Seminar Presenter, “Governance Issues Around Usage of Social Media,” at the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce’s program, Business Perspectives in Non-Profit Management, on June 3rd in Clinton, NJ.

• Webinar presenter, “Plugged-In Employees: How to Effectively - and Legally - Monitor Those Tweets, Facebook Posts, Texts, Emails, Blogs, and More,” on June 17th hosted by BLR webinars.

Ms. Kierkut concentrates her practice in employment litigation and counseling and complex commercial litigation. She conducts human resources audits, performs management and employee training in all areas, including sexual harassment and social media and electronic communications use, and counsels her clients regarding compliance with state and federal employment laws, including discrimination laws, FLSA, Family and Medical leave, and the WARN Act. She also reviews and drafts employee handbooks, social media policies, employment contracts, including restrictive covenants and severance agreements. Her employment litigation practice is primarily focused on resolving claims in the areas of discrimination, sexual harassment, restrictive covenants, whistle blowing and employment contract disputes in state and federal courts and before the Departments of Labor, and the EEOC.

Ms. Kierkut is the Co-Chief Operations Officer of the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association Board of Directors and she is a member of the Editorial Board of the Labor and Employment Law Quarterly, a publication of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She is also a past Chair of the Task Force on Women in the Profession of the Essex County Bar Association and a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers. Ms Kierkut was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers - Rising Stars Edition 2009 in the Employment Litigation: Defense practice area. She is a member of the Labor & Employment Sections of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and Essex County Bar Association and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Ms. Kierkut is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. She is admitted to practice in NJ, NY and CT.
