American Property Tax Counsel Selects Stephen Paul as President

- American Property Tax Counsel (APTC) has elected Stephen Paul of Baker & Daniels LLP as president for the 2011-12 term.

The APTC members selected Paul as the next president during the organization's 17th Annual Property Tax Seminar in San Francisco, Calif., recently. The event also provided an opportunity for the organization's property tax lawyer members to collaborate and learn about the current real estate market and practical solutions to economic challenges from various speakers.

Comprised of 32 member firms and more than 100 attorneys from across the country selected for membership based on their reputations for practice excellence in their respective jurisdictions, APTC provides major real estate owners, both national and local, with a single source for all property tax reduction efforts. Members advise on the nuances of property taxation systems in numerous states, and APTC member counsel represent clients through the entire appeals process and into court.

Paul is a founding member of APTC, the official Indiana representative, and only the third president in the two-decade history of the organization.

A partner at Baker & Daniels, Paul has nearly 40 years of experience in tax law. He represents clients before the Indiana Tax Court, Indiana Department of Revenue, Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, Indiana Board of Review and numerous local boards and agencies in state and local tax matters. Paul also serves on the board of visitors and as an adjunct law professor at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, his alma mater.
