Baker & Daniels Adds David Buddingh to Real Property Litigation Team

- David M. Buddingh, former in-house counsel with Fidelity National Financial, has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as an associate. He will practice construction law and real property litigation from the firm's Chicago office.

Buddingh litigates a variety of contract and commercial matters, develops shareholder and partnership dissolution agreements, forms business entities, performs residential real estate closings and administers probate cases. He is experienced in litigation involving Federal Civil Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act defense, partnership and contract disputes, and arbitration. Buddingh also drafts and negotiates contracts related to acquisitions, employment, stock purchases, sales, and non-compete and confidentiality agreements.

As in-house counsel with Fidelity National Financial in Omaha, Neb., Buddingh prepared coverage determinations pursuant to the terms and conditions of Fidelity National Financial's multitude of title insurance products, provided case recommendations, and retained and worked with local counsel to determine defense litigation strategies and manage litigation matters. He was responsible for administering cases on behalf of Fidelity National Financial's entire family of companies, including Chicago Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and Commonwealth Title Insurance Company.

Buddingh earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2005 and received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Iowa in 2001. After law school, he worked as an associate in the litigation practice of the Gierarch Law Firm in Naperville, Ill.
