Armstrong Teasdale’s Jo Leigh Fisher Reelected President of KC Metropolitan Insurance Fraud Task Force

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 8, 2011) - Jo Leigh Fischer, an Armstrong Teasdale lawyer who defends insurers and manufacturers in explosion, fire and electrocution litigation, has been reelected president of the Kansas City Metropolitan Insurance Fraud Task Force.

The task force encourages cooperation between public service agencies and private organizations to detect, investigate and prosecute insurance fraud. Its mission includes fostering the education of investigators and prosecutors involved in these types of cases; providing for the exchange of technical information, and informing the public about the detrimental impact that insurance fraud causes to the community and individual policy holders.

Fischer is one of only a handful of certified instructors for the Department of Homeland Security at the National Fire Academy and has taught classes for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; Kansas City Arson Task Force; Kansas City Metropolitan Insurance Fraud Task Force and University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.

In recognition of her skills and achievements, Fischer was named a 2011 Missouri Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming” lawyer. She received her J.D. in 1997 from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law and B.S., with honors, in criminal justice and English from Central Missouri State University, now known as the University of Central Missouri.
