Woodcock Washburn Attorney Appointed Chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s IP Law Section
PHILADELPHIA (December 15, 2011) - National intellectual property boutique Woodcock Washburn LLP is pleased to announce Roberto Colón, associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office, was appointed Chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) Intellectual Property Law Section. The HNBA’s IP Law Section serves members and the profession by furthering the development and improvement of intellectual property law, educating members in intellectual property legal matters and related professional responsibilities, and helping members to serve their clients competently, efficiently, and professionally. The section provides a forum for HNBA members to share knowledge and study cutting-edge issues concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing arrangements, and other intellectual property matters.
Roberto Colón focuses his practice at Woodcock Washburn on patent counseling, procurement, and litigation. Roberto has experience preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications in a wide range of technologies, including mechanical and electrical devices, with particular emphasis on medical devices. He has also provided and drafted opinions on patentability, infringement, and validity of patents. Roberto has conducted due diligence reviews to assess the value of intellectual property portfolios and detect potential liabilities. Roberto received an LL.M in Intellectual Property from Columbia Law School. While earning his J.D., he was a member of the editorial board for the University of Puerto Rico Law Review. Roberto is fluent in Spanish.
