Moore & Van Allen Litigation Group Expands in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 23, 2012) - Moore & Van Allen is pleased to announce that Emily A. Kota, Adam Smith and Edward Taylor Stukes have all joined Moore & Van Allen’s Charlotte office Litigation practice group.
Emily Kota is commencing her legal career with Moore & Van Allen’s litigation team. Kota earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 2011. She is a member of both the North Carolina and Charlotte Women’s Bar Associations, and a recipient of Vanderbilt Scholastic Excellence Awards in Legal Writing, Family Law, and Health Law and Policy.
Adam Smith’s practice includes commercial litigation, financial services and insolvency litigation and government, internal investigations and criminal defense. Smith has practiced in state and federal courts in Virginia, New York and Washington, D.C. He has represented clients in matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Department of Justice. Smith is a member of the North Carolina, Mecklenburg County, Virginia and New York Bar Associations, and earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Edward Taylor Stukes has experience in the areas of civil litigation, tort claims, construction litigation, trucking industry defense, insurance coverage disputes and medical malpractice defense. Stukes, who received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, represents clients in state and federal courts and has defended a number of jury trials. He serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and belongs to the Levine Children’s Hospital Starlight Society and the DRI Young Lawyers Committee.
