Nancy Scott Degan to Lead American Bar Association Section of Litigation

NEW ORLEANS (February 8, 2012) - Nancy Scott Degan, of the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been nominated to lead the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Litigation, which is the ABA's largest specialty section, having approximately 60,000 members. 

Ms. Degan will assume the role of Vice-Chair of the Section of Litigation in August 2012 at the conclusion of the ABA Annual Meeting.  She will serve as Vice-Chair from 2012 to 2013, and as Chair-Elect from 2013 to 2014.  Upon conclusion of the 2014 ABA Annual meeting, she will begin a one-year term as the Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation.

Ms. Degan has previously served in various other positions for the ABA Section of Litigation, including Revenue Officer, Managing Director, Division Director, Co-Chair of the Business Torts Committee, and Associate Editor of Litigation News. 

Ms. Degan is a shareholder in the New Orleans office of Baker Donelson, is the leader of the firm's 90‑lawyer Business Litigation Practice Group, and serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.  Ms. Degan has extensive experience representing clients in various business disputes, including those concerning oil and gas interests, shareholder actions and other securities litigation.  Ms. Degan is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® and has been recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers as one of the top 10 lawyers in Louisiana.
