The Adams and Reese Baton Rouge office will receive the “Pro Bono Publico” award from the Louisiana State Bar Association, honoring the office’s attorneys for their contribution to the enhancement and promotion of pro bono services within the Baton Rouge community. The firm’s New Orleans office is also receiving a “Pro Bono Publico” award for its pro bono work in the New Orleans community.

The Adams and Reese New Orleans office has been named a recipient of the “Pro Bono Publico” award, an award given by the Louisiana State Bar Association to a firm that has made a major contribution to the enhancement and promotion of pro bono legal services to the poor.

On Friday, May 04, Verrill Dana hosted a discussion of economic development initiatives for individuals and start-ups in Southern Maine, and the availability of low cost or pro bono intellectual property services for those in need.

Funds assist children served by Guardian ad Litem Program Nanci DuBois, Executive Director of the Lee County Bar Association, is pleased to announce that the LCBA will host a charity golf tournament on Saturday, May 5th, at Fiddlesticks Country Club. The event will raise funds for Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida, the non-profit financial support arm of the Guardian ad Litem Program.

Pennsylvania Labor Union & Employment Law Firm Recognized for Pro Bono Outreach Pennsylvania labor union and employment law firm Willig, Williams & Davidson has been honored with Philadelphia VIP’s (Volunteers for the Indigent) Silver Gavel Award in recognition of the firm’s outstanding level of commitment to the provision of pro bono legal services. The award was presented on March 19, 2012, during VIP’s annual awards ceremony and reception.

Adams and Reese is one of 17 law firms in New Orleans who will volunteer to work pro bono cases to relieve pressure on the Orleans Public Defenders Office, which after a budget shortfall recently laid off 27 employees, including 21 attorneys - a third of the public defenders on staff.

Gallop attorney Johnny S. Wang has been elected President of the Missouri Asian-American Bar Association (MAABA), which orchestrates professional support activities, offers professional mentoring, and provides diversity role models for its growing membership and supporters in its mission to enrich Missouri’s legal community.

Verrill Dana attorney Nora Healy was presented with the Maine Bar Foundation Fellows New Lawyer Award at the Foundation's annual meeting. The award, named for former Bar Foundation president Arnie McDonald, is given to attorneys who have been licensed for less than ten years and have made outstanding contributions to the legal community through pro bono service or other contributions.

Moore & Van Allen PLLC was pleased to participate in two job-shadowing programs to mentor local students as part of National Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 2. Moore & Van Allen hosted 10 high school students from the Olympic Community of Schools who are interested in careers as attorneys.
